Local Farmers Discuss Ways to Grow the Best Pumpkin: an article in the Coshocton Tribune. The Garden Patch has had a downturn this year due to the weather. The rainy conditions have affected the soil, causing production to be much lower than last year. Pumpkins need a certain soil temperature to grow well, a cover crop in the winter and dry weather.

The owners grow more than 65 varieties and continue to look for new types. They grow just enough pumpkins to sell at their business since their main goal is educating others and encouraging them to grow pumpkins as well as other items. It helps to create interest in the community, especially with children.

Just think of the results if you were to work your business this way. Take one main product or service and offer it up in a variety of ways while continuing to expand on it to the point where you excel at what you are doing. Work with the business climate you are given and adjust your methods depending on what is available at any given time. Grow the business to where it is just large enough that you are able to take care of yourself and your family. Spend time teaching others how to do the same. Educate those in your community, especially those who are younger, so they too will have an interest in following in your footsteps.

Plant a seed and watch it grow.
