In a time that seems to be more and more technologically driven everyday, in a world of text messages, e-mails, and any one of the other numerous ways of instantly sending messages to a co-worker, friend, or loved one, we are instantly able to keep in touch, but in my opinion, what we are all at risk of is really losing touch.  I will admit I am not innocent in this, ask my Mom!  I e-mail her often throughout the week but have probably only spoke to her on the phone a handful of times in the last 6 months…honestly, neither one of us are big fans of phone communication so e-mail works well for us, but really, are we able to communicate honestly and openly through e-mails and text messages?  Obviously social media has its place, especially in a business environment…but I challenge you (and myself)  to stretch your arms a little…really..stretch it out! Get out of your computer chair and volunteer, attend seminars, make physical contacts.  Go back to the basics where a hand shake meant so much more than it does today.  Then when you have made that  new contact, go ahead and add it to your Blackberry contact list.
