From the Calgary Herald, an article on the cost of commuting versus tele-commuting. Statistics Canada reports that in the Calgary area, the average time to travel to work on a typical day is 26 minutes. 16% of commuters take 45 minutes or more to get to work.

Another report shows that the average Canadian worker is spending 42 minutes commuting to and from work each day. The costs of working away from home – $269.

From the Globe and Mail: survey says owners are happy with their work/life balance. Based on a poll by Intuit Canada, the survey found that 88% of small business owners were satisfied with their present work/free time balance.

Not surprisingly, a large percentage work more than the usual 40 hours per week and are happy with that. Scheduling and organizing their own work  contributes to this sense of satisfaction.
